should i buy blu ray films or continue buying DVDs or both?

iceman asked:

I have just got a new laptop that has a bulit in blu ray drive. I would rather have a big tv though to watch blu ray films. Should i wait till i have a big tv and just carry on buying dvds? If i do that i may end up wanting to replace my dvds!

Well, I have a PS3 and a HD projector and I notice very little difference between DVD and Blu-Ray.

Personally I’d advise to continue buying DVDs since they are still the main format and most Blu-Ray players will play DVDs and upscale them to near HD Quality so there will be little reason to replace them later on.

Wait till Blu-Rays come down in price before you buy them instead of DVDs.

Well, I think Blu Ray offers a much better picture than std DVD. With Amazon offering such good deals on Blu Ray for about $8 more than a std DVD, why not since you will be buying a HD 1080p TV down the road.
